PRIVATE PILOT LICENCE (AEROPLANE) - PPL(A)
The PPL(A) is an ICAO-recognised ('international') licence for non-commercial use. It allows you to fly internationally in countries that recognise ICAO licences and is valid for life. You can add on additional ratings such as a night-rating or various levels of instrument-rating as your flying experience increases and you can expand this licence to include flight as the pilot of multi-engine aircraft.
- Minimum total training hours: 45
- Minimum dual instruction hours: 25
- Minimum solo hours: 10 (to include a total of at least 5 hours solo cross-country flying and 1 cross-country flight of at least 150nm with full-stop landings at 2 additional aerodromes)
- Minimum stall/spin awareness hours: 2
- Minimum medical certification: Class 2
- Written exams: 9
- Flight skills test: 1
