LIGHT AIRCRAFT PILOT LICENCE (AEROPLANE) - LAPL(A)
The LAPL(A) is a non-ICAO ('Europe-wide') licence which permits the holder to fly for leisure within Europe. It allows you to add on some additional ratings such as a night-rating and is also valid for life. This licence has a lower training requirement but is restricted to single engine piston aeroplanes and touring motor gliders below 2,000 kg max take-off weight and a maximum of 3 passengers plus the pilot.
- Minimum total training hours: 30
- Minimum dual instruction hours: 15
- Minimum solo hours: 6 (to include a total of at least 3 hours solo cross-country flying and 1 cross-country flight of at least 80nm with a full-stop landing at an additional aerodrome)
- Minimum stall/spin awareness hours: 2
- Minimum medical certification: LAPL medical certificate
- Written exams: 9
- Flight skills test: 1
